SIAB NEAR NAKED O.o

I thought that I'd warn you in the title so you don't click "SHOW ANYWAYS HURR" expecting some Akuroku smutness or something and are like "WOAH NAKED LADY...well sort of".

This was my conceptual self-portrait for grade 12 last year. Nude in grade 12? Controversial? YOU BETCHA.

Yeah, when we got the project my art teacher said that you could do anything for your self-portrait as long as it represented you in some way. ANYTHING. So of course I took her literally on that.

My initial plan was to pose nude in a kinda fetal sitting position, adding colours and stuff in photoshop after. I approached my art teacher with the idea and she said that if I got permission from my guidance counselor or principal that I'd be allowed to do it! WOOH!

MY principal being a hard ass I knew that he'd say no, so I asked my guidance counselor. She was hesitant but said that it would be okay if I asked the principal. Since my art teacher only said ask one person, I didn't intend to tell the principal at all. GUESS WHO FOUND OUT.

So basically he told me that for legal reasons they wouldn't let me do it, and then my art teacher's resolve crumbled too. This pissed me off supremely. Not because I couldn't do it, but because they had given me hope that I could and then taken it away from me.

I then decided that I'd still take a picture, but I wouldn't be completely nude in it.

The entire tone of the picture changed at this point. Instead of being a self-portrait it turned into more of a giant middle finger towards the school board, my principal, and my art teacher. I'm not going to explain to you the symbolism because I tried to make it fairly obvious.

If you're wondering about the wig though, I had planned to use that from the beginning and doesn't actually have anything to do with the big "FUCK YOU" that is this picture. It was basically just to represent my emotional tendencies (the style) and my environmentalism (the green-ish colour).

It may not be obvious, but there was actually a LOT of editing that went into this, using new tools and style that I'd discovered from this book at school.

My being a retard though, I made it into two pictures BEFORE I did the editing, so any editing I did to one side I had to duplicate on the other >.< did NOT think that through...

If there was one editing thing that really bugged me it was that when I upped the saturation that the black Bristol Boards turned blue, so I had to change the colour back, which wasn't too bad except for the HAIR. It was really hard doing those parts, and they're still kinda blue. Thank god the colour of the hair hides it a bit!

I just wanted to add that I may not look as sinister in this picture as I had hoped because when my mom and I were going outside to take the picture she sprained er ankle, and despite my protests that she should go inside and sit down and that we'd do it another day, she still wanted to take the pictures! So while we were doing this I was mainly worrying about her and not focusing on looking angry >.<

There's even more that I could talk about regarding this picture like the bitch of prep and the MOSQUITOES, but I've been yammering on for too long, so I'll stop.

If there's anything to get out of this, it's basically "FUCK YOU PEOPLE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT NUDITY CAN BE ART AND YOU WILL NOT CENSOR ME NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU MAY TRY!"


Also, I'm 18 so this is not child pornography or some such SHIT.
